A-side label of the UK 7-inch single “God Save The Queen” — blue label version (VS181A)

Here we go — just a quick update on something we’ve been digging into!

In our previous post (God Save The Queen – Part 2), we examined the label text color and concluded it was white.

But… new info has come in 👀

🧷 A Label Mystery Resurfaces

Thanks to some incredibly helpful comments from folks on Instagram, there’s a strong chance the label might actually be silver after all ✨

We had previously run tests using:

  • Direct light reflection
  • Edge sharpness
  • B&W photo contrast

…and all signs pointed to white.

But apparently, certain silver prints can fade to white or grayish tones over time — making it difficult to tell just by eye.

🧷 So What Now?

We’re putting the mystery back under the microscope 🔬

I’ll be doing more comparisons with verified copies and updating the results as they come in.

It’s a great reminder of how deep this collector’s rabbit hole can go — even the smallest detail might hold surprises.

🔜 Coming Next

Next up is something brand new — we’re finally moving on to:

“Holidays in the Sun” – Virgin VS191
And we’ll be comparing it with the 30th Anniversary Reissue from 2007.

Stay tuned — it’s going to be fun!
