🧷 Collector’s Notes

✔️ Sleeve

The artwork by Kazuichi Hanawa has a slightly different atmosphere from the usual Pistols imagery.
It has a distinctly Japanese feel and stands out within the catalogue.

Hanawa is known for his unique style rooted in traditional Japanese aesthetics and underground themes.

Interestingly, he is also said to be the inspiration behind Hanawa-kun from Chibi Maruko-chan.
Likewise, Maruo-kun was inspired by another manga artist, Suehiro Maruo.

✔️ Track Selection

This CD is a Japan-only compilation made up of selections from Pirates Of Destiny and We’ve Cum For Your Children.

In practice, only “God Save The Queen” (Sweden live version) is taken from We’ve Cum For Your Children.

・Tracks 1–2: Chris Spedding demo recordings
・Tracks 3–7: Alternate mixes from The Great Rock ‘n’ Roll Swindle
・Tracks 8–10: Live recordings from Sweden (with Sid on bass)

✔️ Variations

This first press picture disc is relatively common, but there is also a later pressing with a different sleeve and reverse design.

  • “SEX PISTOLS” appears in katakana
  • “CHAOS” is written using the kanji for “混沌(chaos)”

The design resembles traditional hanafuda cards.

This version is less commonly seen.

For reference, the US/Canada edition features a surreal image of a woman exercising, both on the disc and sleeve.

🔜 Next Up

Next time, I’ll be covering the French 7-inch
You Need Hands” (640.161).

Stay tuned.
