Here We Go!
Introducing part of my Sex Pistols collection.

This time, I am looking at the edited version of the double album The Great Rock’n’Roll Swindle, focusing on the UK, French and Mexican pressings.
(For details on the original double album, please see the earlier articles: Part 1 / Part 2.)

Some copies of this album were originally issued with a free paper or poster, and both items fetch relatively high prices on their own. I would like to add these to the collection one day.

Here are the four copies currently on hand:

① V2168(UK1)
② OVED 234(UK2)
③ 202 521 (France)
④ LA-259 (Mexico)

✔️ Sleeves

▼Both UK pressings share the same design, with OVED including a barcode at the top right.

▼The French sleeve features a unique design on both sides, with track listings on the reverse.

▼The Mexican sleeve has noticeably rougher printing, and the reverse side is entirely in Spanish.

✔️ Labels

UK1: Green/red Virgin label

UK2: Grey Virgin label

France: Green/red Virgin label

Mexico: Green/red Virgin label

🧷 Collector’s Notes

・None of the pressings include Johnny Rotten vocal tracks.
GSTQ features Malcolm’s narration on every edition.

・The Mexican first pressing is said to have both the “Rock De Los 80’s” sticker and the “red dragon
 twin label”.
My copy has neither sticker and uses the standard green/red Virgin label, so it appears to be a
 second pressing.

・Although the sleeve design is broadly the same, the colour tone varies across pressings.
OVED 234 has a stronger blue tone and appears the most vivid.

・As the full double album fits comfortably onto a CD, this edited LP version has never been
 released in CD form.
However, my copy of CDVX2510 has been re-sleeved using this striking LP artwork.
