Introducing another item from my Sex Pistols collection.
This time, I am looking at the 7-inch single
Submission (DICK 1/CARTEL 1)
released by Chaos Records.
In this article, I am introducing two copies: the clear yellow version and the clear pink version.

Because the vinyl is lightly coloured, the matrix information on both sides is difficult to read clearly on the actual records, so I also referred in part to Discogs.

As with the 12-inch version, the 7-inch release also has different catalogue numbers on the sleeve and the labels.

- Label: CARTEL 1
Unlike the 12-inch version, this difference does not seem to be related to distribution in quite the same way, although clear documentation is hard to find.
The 7-inch version was issued in two colours, clear yellow and clear pink, with a total limited pressing of 4,175 copies.
There was also apparently a white label test pressing on black vinyl, without a picture sleeve, limited to just 20 copies.

The sleeve artwork is by Satoshi Smash Suginaka.
The back cover, lower right, is credited “Artwork – Satoshi SMASH Suginaka”.
✔️ Matrix numbers
Side A: a prank-like message asking the listener to call for Liz?
PLEASE PHONE 01.930.4832 AND ASK FOR LIZ
This number is said to have been the direct number for the London office of The Cartel, the independent distribution network handling the record at the time.
“Liz” also appears to refer to a real staff member there, Liz Naylor.
Side B: perhaps a sarcastic reference to EMI?
MEANWHILE…. BACK AT E.M.I.
Penthouse indicates that the record was cut at Penthouse Studios in London.
ORLAKE is the mark of Orlake Records, the pressing plant in the UK.
