Here We Go!
A look at my Sex Pistols collection!

This time, it’s…
Anniversary Edition Special, part one:
the 10th Anniversary Album!

NMTB turns 50 next year, in 2027. To mark the occasion, I’ll be working my way through the various “anniversary”-branded releases that have appeared over the years.

🧷 The Basics

  • Artist: Sex Pistols
  • Format: CD
  • Release date: Unknown
  • Label/catalogue number: Sound Solutions / No.2140009
  • Sleeve: Jewel case

🧷 Tracklist

  3. Lip Child
  4. This Is Brainwash
  5. It’s Not Funny
  6. For People Like Us (There Is No Order)
  7. Oh So Pretty
  8. Underwater Secrets

All under aliases. The real titles are below.

🧷 Pressing/Variant Details

✔️ Packaging/Insert

▼Insert (front)

▼Insert (back)

▼Tray card

  • Case: Standard jewel case
  • Insert: Single sheet (front) + tray card (barcode side)
  • No booklet

Rather than a folded booklet, this one makes do with a single front insert and a tray card. Bootleg territory, and the packaging shows it — a cost-cutting exercise if ever there was one.

✔️ Disc Details

The disc itself carries a “MONADA / OSA” credit that doesn’t appear anywhere else on the release. Not entirely sure what it refers to — possibly something to do with manufacturing or distribution.

The “ADD” marking is a standard industry tag for Analogue recording, Digital mix, Digital master. Seeing it on a bootleg is a small but interesting clue about how the thing was actually mastered.

🧷 A Collector’s Notes

How it came about

The sleeve carries the line “Licensed by kind permission of MBC,” though nothing I’ve found confirms MBC held any genuine rights to Sex Pistols material. As such, this one’s generally treated as a bootleg.

The CD draws on Dave Goodman (Goodman Tapes) material along with live recordings from the Burton upon Trent show. Goodman Tapes material has turned up on any number of other compilations over the years.

The copy featured here is the Sound Solutions reissue; the original was a 1986 LP on MBC Records (JOCK LP 3, UK).

About the track titles

Every track on this one appears under a different title.

At the time, I imagine plenty of collectors got their hopes up, wondering if there were unreleased songs hiding in here. Not the most flattering discovery — turned out to be the usual suspects after all.

Here’s what’s actually on there. The lyrical lifts and slight rewording give quite a few of them away.

1. Sigue Sigue Sex Pistols (Sputnik)
→ 「Satellite」

2. U.K. Disorder
→ 「Anarchy In The U.K.」

3. Lip Child
→ 「Don’t Give Me No Lip, Child」

4. This Is Brainwash
→ 「I Wanna Be Me」

5. It’s Not Funny
→ 「No Fun」

6. For People Like Us (There Is No Order)
→ 「No Feelings」

7. Oh So Pretty
→ 「Pretty Vacant」

8. Underwater Secrets
→ 「Submission」

Track 1, “Sigue Sigue Sex Pistols (Sputnik)” = “Satellite”

At a guess — and it is only a guess — this is a play on Sputnik, the old Soviet satellite, paired with “Satellite” itself.

Worth noting: the British new wave band Sigue Sigue Sputnik turned up in the late 1980s, around the Pistols’ 10th anniversary, formed by Tony James, former bassist of Generation X, who was going for something of a Malcolm McLaren-style approach — heavy on spectacle and self-promotion. Whether the title change here was a nod to that is anyone’s guess, but the timing lines up neatly enough to be worth mentioning.

This is the lineup of Sigue Sigue Sputnik.

Apparently they were picked largely on looks. Make of that what you will. Funnily enough, I remember someone at school who was rather keen on this band.

🧷 Coming Up Next

Next time: part two of the series, the Never Mind The Bollocks 21st Anniversary Edition!

See you then.
