This time I’m looking at…
the Virgin Records 25th Anniversary
Sex Pistols
Original Analogue Sleeve Series.
Released in 1999 to mark Virgin Records’ 25th anniversary, this was a domestic Japanese CD series put together by Toshiba-EMI, reproducing the original LP sleeves in card-sleeve (mini-LP) format.
The catalogue numbers run VJCP-68050 to 68059, but VJCP-68054 and 68055 were never issued, so the series actually comes to eight titles.
Every disc also came with the same entry card for the VIRGIN25 · V-Festival campaign — a nice common thread running through the whole series.

🧷 The Obi Strips
Every obi carries the same campaign notice printed along the top edge. The one exception is Never Mind the Bollocks, whose obi is noticeably wider than the rest — matching the width of the original UK release.
✔️ The Spine Logo
The nice touch with this series is what happens when you line the discs up: the coloured bands on the spines join together to spell out the “Sex Pistols” logo across all eight cases.
It’s the same trick used on the spines of manga volumes — Dragon Ball being the classic example.
